Whew - June - What a Month!

Even though rain seemed to follow us wherever we went, June was a great month!

Cherokee celebrated their 42 year of PRCA Rodeo. 

-Joe Wilson of Kyle, SD scored 81 points on NFR Bucking Horse N5 Dodge Hills, to win the bareback riding.

-Chuck Schmidt of Keldron, SD rode NFR Bucking Horse D8 Cat Power for 83 points and first place win in

  the saddle bronc riding.

-BJ Schumacher, Hillsboro, WI scored 85 points to win the bull riding on upcoming star 515 Soul Train

  Soul Train is a 4 year old ranch raised half Mexican fighting bull.

California, Missouri results:

-Bo Casper, Fort Scott, KS won the bareback riding on 2B7 Young Again with a score of 80 points.

-Wade Sundell, Boxholm, IA scored 81 points on 2J8 Double Identity to win the saddle bronc riding.

-Corey Davis of New Bloomfield, MO won the bull riding with a score of 82 points on 138 Cajun Moon.

Duluth highlights:

-Jason Wylie, Harris, MN scored 81 points to win the bareback riding on 1J8 St Paul Johny.

-Lyle Welling, Crawford, NE scored 78 points on 2D7 Dancin 7 to win the saddle bronc riding.

-Matt Dunsmore of Elk River, MN rode 311 Luke for 81 points to win the bull riding.

Lucas Oil Speedway - Wheatland recap:

-Bee Jay Scott of Otley, IA scored 82 points for a win in the bareback riding on R8 Buffalo Ridge.

-Bobby Griswold, Geary, OK won the saddle bronc riding on 1G9 Chain of Command for 80 points.

-Corey Davis of New Bloomfield, MO won the bull riding with a score of 78 points on another upcoming ranch

  raised star, 573 Hillbilly Shoes.

Buffalo Celebrated their 53rd year of PRCA Rodeo.

-John Addison of Belvidere, SD scored 79 to win the bareback riding on NFR Bucking Horse N5 Dodge Hills.

-NFR Bucking Horse, 334 Little Stone took her foal to Buffalo with her as well as taking Aaron Cohoon,

  Nashville, MI to the number 1 pay window in the saddle bronc riding with a score of 78 points.

-Tylor Wojciechowski, Greenbush, MN scored 83 points to win the bull riding on 311 Luke.

Ponca celebrated their 40th year of PRCA Rodeo. 

-Chris Bostwick was awarded a plaque in acknowledgement of his over 30 years of service to the Ponca

  Rodeo.

-Jared Keylon, Fort Scott, KS scored 82 points on N7 Lucky Hills to win the bareback riding.

-Chuck Schmidt of Keldron, SD won the saddle bronc riding with a score of 76 points on 36R Twilight Rose

-Justin Brown, Sturgis, SD scored 76 points on A177 Spin Roller to with the bull riding.

Glenwood City highlights:

-Dusty Elkinton, Moundville, MD scored 81 points to win the bareback riding on N5 Dodge Hills.

-Lyle Welling, Crawford, NE scored 78 points on Y9 Resole to win the saddle bronc riding.

-Christian Greenwold, Rice Lake, WI scored 80 points on 311 Luke to win the bull riding.

 

Cows have all calved and the 25 pairs are enjoying plentiful grass in the pastures at Last Chance.

Mares and foals are relaxing by the ranch entrance between rodeos.

Pastures are being sprayed.

Horses are being sorted, coggins tested, and moved to pastures

2007 Great Lakes Circuit Finals

The Great Lakes Circuit Finals was held during the North American Livestock Show in Louisville, Kentucky November 8-10, 2007.  Barnes and MJM stock helped cowboys to the pay window nine times for a total earnings of $6,140.  Not only did cowboys hit the pay window, The bucking stock also brought $1700 in bucking stock awards home with them.

   

     Cat Power - D8 - Barnes - Saddle Bronc of the Year

     Cherokee Wild - 1Z0 - MJM - 2nd Place Saddle Bronc of the Year

     Bow Tie - 340 - Barnes -2nd Place Bareback Horse of the Year

     Red Horse - 173 - Barnes - Bull of the Year

     Red Rabbit - 402 - Barnes - 2nd Place Bull of the Year

 

We are very proud to again have one of our rodeos chosen as the Best New Rodeo of the Great

Lakes Circuit.  Congratulations to Lucas Oil Rodeo, Wheatland, Missouri.  They added $21,000 with a total purse of $37,915 with 235 contestants participating.

 

2007 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo

Our bucking stock had a great Wrangler National Finals December 6-15, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV.

It all began the second performance when BJ Schumacher, world champion bull rider, scored 86 points on Red Rabbit to place 2nd winning $12,957.

All three saddle bronc horses made Bob-O proud during the 5th round.

      Taos Muncy (later to be named the World Champion) rode No Ballou 1Y0 from the MJM herd to win the

            round, winning $16,394 as well as a belt buckle and a $500 cash bonus.

      Cat Power D8 from the Barnes herd bucked off Heath DeMoss and won the highest scored saddle 

            bronc horse of the round winning the Wrangler cash award.

      Little Stone 334 from the Barnes herd bucked off Chet Johnson.

The three saddle bronc horses saw competition again during the 8th round.

      Chet Johnson rode Cat Power D8 for 2nd place winning $12,957.  She was also the 2nd highest scored

            saddle bronc of the performance winning a Wrangler cash award.

      Issac Diaz rode No Ballou 1Y0 for 5th place winning $4,231.

      Little Stone 334 bucked off Taos Muncy and was the 3rd highest scored saddle bronc of the round to

            win a Wrangler cash award.

Eleven saddle horses also made the trip to the City of Lights to be used in the openings as well as in the back pens.  Floyd, a pickup horse by trade, received a plaque and a $200 cash award for the best saddle horse in the Miss Rodeo America Horsemanship contest
